Bantwal: 75-year-old man who fell into estate trench dies

Bantwal, Aug 2: A 75-year-old man who was found critically ill after falling into a trench in an arecanut plantation in Kukkila passed away on Saturday, August 1, after failing to respond to medical treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Giriyappa Safalya, a resident of Kukkila in Vittal Padnur village.

According to sources, Giriyappa had been missing for three days. Following a frantic search by locals, he was found lying helpless inside a trench in an arecanut estate on Friday morning.

He was initially rushed to the government hospital in Vittal. For advanced care, he was later shifted to Wenlock Hospital and subsequently to a private hospital. Unfortunately, his condition did not improve, and he breathed his last on Saturday.
