Mangaluru, Aug 5: The industrial hit Konkani masterpiece Bapache Putache Navim (BPN) continues its unstoppable box-office momentum, shattering expectations with back-to-back houseful screenings and standing ovations across regions.
Written and directed by Stany Bela and produced by Michael D'Souza and family under the Daijiworld Films banner, Bapache Putache Navim is a 100-minute Konkani family drama that explores parenting, relationships and the realities of an ageing society through parallel narratives.
The film has won appreciation from audiences and critics alike for its emotionally engaging story, realistic treatment, strong performances, cinematography and music.
Phenomenal Response in Moodbidri: 4 successful Screenings in a Single Day
Demonstrating the film's extraordinary draw, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) of St Matthew Deanery, Moodbidri, successfully hosted special screenings on Sunday, August 2, at the Bharath Scouts & Guides Kannada Bhavana. To cater to the overwhelming public demand, four back-to-back shows were organized throughout the day—at 12:00 PM, 2:30 PM, 5:00 PM, and 7:30 PM—all running to absolute capacity crowds.
The electrifying event featured key visionaries behind the project, including director Stany Bela alongside music director Sanjay Rodrigues. They were warmly welcomed by Kiran Pereira, president of ICYM St Matthew Deanery. Audiences across all shows showered the film with glowing praise, highlighting its compelling storyline, deep cultural resonance, and powerhouse performances.
Standing Ovation at Niranthar Film Festival, Udyavar
Adding another major feather to its cap, ‘Bapache Putache Navim received a roaring reception at the prestigious Niranthar Film Festival in Udyavar, where it was showcased alongside acclaimed regional classics such as Daskath and Valavara.
A massive crowd of over 600 cinephiles filled the venue for a single screening, lauding the film’s rich cinematic quality, depth of storytelling, and brave departure from conventional forced comedy in favor of a gripping, content-driven social narrative.
The event featured prominent dignitaries on stage, including Walter Nandalike (Founder, Daijiworld Media), Stany Bela (Director, BPN), Lavina Fernandes (Renowned artist and advocate for Konkani & Tulu theatre), Fr Anil D’Silva (Parish Priest, Udyavara), Michael D’Souza (President, Udyavara Film Festival), Roshan Crasto (President, Nirantar Udyavar), and Stevan Colaco.
