Kasargod, Aug 5: Sandeep Shetty alias Annu (44), son of Somaraja Shetty and a BJP worker from Kondevoor in Uppala, was found dead in a pond near his residence after he went missing while on his way to work. He was employed at a soda factory in Sharada Nagar, Uppala.
Sandeep had left home on Monday morning for work at the soda factory but failed to return, prompting family members and local residents to launch a search. During the search, his shirt was found near a pond in the family's garden, raising fears that he had fallen into the water.

Fire and Rescue Services personnel conducted a search operation and recovered his body from the pond.
Police suspect that Sandeep may have accidentally fallen into the pond while attempting to repair the foot valve of a motor pump installed there. Manjeshwar Police have registered a case of unnatural death, and further enquiries are under way to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
Apart from his work at the soda factory, Sandeep was well known in local socio-political circles. He was an active BJP worker attached to the party's 81st booth and was also involved in the activities of several social and cultural organisations in the area.
BJP leaders, fellow workers and local residents expressed deep condolences over Sandeep's demise, remembering him for his active involvement in political, social and cultural activities.
