Beltangady, Aug 5: A warrant accused who had been evading court proceedings for nearly five years in connection with a criminal case registered at Dharmasthala police station has been arrested by police in Bengaluru.
The accused has been identified as Murthy alias Pintu (37), a resident of Bengaluru. He was wanted in connection with Dharmasthala police station case No. 65/2017, registered under Sections 397, 395 read with 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Police said Murthy had failed to appear before the court for nearly five years and had remained absconding, following which a warrant was issued against him.
Acting on the warrant, Dharmasthala police station personnel Vrushabha and Charan Raj traced him to Bengaluru and arrested him.
The accused was produced before the judge on August 5 and was subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
