Byndoor, Aug 7: The Kollur police have arrested three individuals in connection with two separate but related incidents involving alleged atrocities against a Dalit woman and a subsequent retaliatory assault.
The incidents reportedly took place in Bellala village under the Kollur police station limits on Thursday, August 6.

In the first case, a youth identified as Sanath Kundapur was arrested based on a complaint filed by the aggrieved woman. According to the complaint, Sanath approached the woman near her house, behaved in a manner that outraged her modesty, and verbally abused her using casteist slurs. Based on these allegations, the Kollur police registered a case against him under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and executed the arrest.
Meanwhile, a counter-case was registered based on a complaint filed by Sanath Kundapur. He alleged that following the aforementioned incident, the woman's family members tied him up, assaulted him, and attempted to murder him. Acting on this complaint, the police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including attempt to murder. Two accused, identified as Ram Kumar and Nandish Kumar, have been arrested in connection with this assault.
The police have stated that investigations into both cases are currently underway. The remaining accused involved in the incident will be apprehended swiftly once the investigation is complete.
