Dubai, Mar 24: The much-awaited ‘Gurukiran Musical Nite’ with a 30-member large troupe comprising of singers, musicians, mimicry artists, film personalities, and dancers invaded Dubai to entertain the music lovers of UAE and concluded a mesmerizing super show on Friday March 23 at Al Nasr Leisureland, Ice Rink, Dubai.

A large crowd of music lovers and fans from all over UAE flocked to the venue much ahead of time and there was a huge rush at the gates before they opened.

The gate opened at around 6.45 pm and music lovers rushed inside the auditorium and soon. empty seats were full. MC Uttam Menezes opened up the stage by inviting main sponsors Shivanand Hebbar of Sapil along with visiting gem specialist Ashok Purohit, entrepreneur and Aryabhata Award recipient Praveen Shetty of Fortune Hotel, Rajyostava Award winner Shekar Shetty of Arab Udupi Group of Hotels, president of Devadiga Sangha Harish Sherigar, Daijiworld chief editor Walter Nandalike, and the hosts Noel D'Almeida and Flavy Almeida on to the stage for lighting the lamp.

On behalf of the organizers, Walter Nandalikee while wishing the programme all success also announced the news of Praveen Shetty bagging the Aryabhata award. All the guests on the stage were honoured with mementos and flower bouquets.

Visiting MC VJ Anushree then took over who then took over the entire programme with her cute voice and sense of humour.

The programme started with singing starting with Chitra, a very talented singer, who opened with a rocking Kannada number followed by Chetan and Harish Sherigar who stole the hearts of the music lovers with his ‘Noorondu Nenepu Yedeyaala Dindha’. This was followed by a foot tapping dance item by the local team ‘Ocean Kids’ led by leading choreographer Vinod.

Gurukiran was later introduced with the dancers around him who were also flown in from India. Guru rocked the stage with his dual performance and the audience demanded an encore. Guru, a Mangalorean, is not only a music composer but also a Sandalwood actor who made a strong name in Kannada filmdom wherein singers await a chance to record a song with him.

Mimicry artist Dayanand had the audience in splits with his superb comedy and mimicry performance. He also introduced and greeted the guest stars Ragini and Yogi who were seated along with the audience enjoying every bit of the show. Other than the musical team, film personalities like Komal Kumar, hero of Kannada film industry and brother of comedy actor Jaggesh, were also part of the show. Komal Kumar is very famous comedian in the Kannada film industry currently doing the hero’s role in ‘Chamkaysi Chindi Udaysi’ and presented some comedy items and songs. Along with his co-star Parul Yadav, he also presented a dance number appreciated by the audience.

The programme continued with music and singing by play back singers Malgudi Shubha who presented various Kannada songs including 'Kodagana Koli Nungitha' inviting aspirant singers from the audience who jumped on the stage and performed along with her. Actor Yogi also presented the famous ‘Kolaveri Di’ and later Ragini was invited on stage to dance along with other dancers.

Akshata, a little girl from Dubai, stole the hearts of the audience with her ‘Chikni Chameli’ Hindi number.

In between the show was a product launch by the main sponsor Sapil. Hebbar and his team with guests star Ragini and the dancers presented the launch of their new scent ‘Just Jasmin’ beautifully spreading the fragrance all over.

The epitome of the show was the ‘jugal bandi’ between drummer Devanand and guitarist Stephen which went on for almost half an hour totally mesmerizing the audience. The audience cheered them and wanted this to have happened much earlier in the show as it was already 11.30 pm.

Not much to comment on the show as it was a pretty average show for those who had high expectations and attended. Most of us have seen best of Dayananda, Chaitra and Guru Kiran in Dubai. Local stars performed better and showed more professionalism. Jugalbandhi was good, but too late as most of them had left. Few stars should not have been entertained as they were never crowd pullers and it was waste of money, time and energy for organisers. Regarding attitude these stars should learn a bit from their seniors/veterans or from other industry.

A well organised programme.the simplicity of the multitalented man.i.e. musicdirector, actor &singer gurukiran, mudugal shuba ,komal &parul is overwhelming. But to the simplicity of these was the height of arrogance shown by thetwo, ragini &yogi.the glamour of m.c anu took the programme to a sizzling height. The jugalbandi was mindblowing, dayanands mimicry was hilarious. chaitras &chetans singing was melodious. Not to forget the musicians &dancers who added spice to the programme.AT last not to forget that organising such an event is not an easy task.kudos to noel, flavi&anil

The show was good but not planned properly. If we look at individual performances it was excellent but the show on the whole was ok.Technical problems with Sound ,light and stage.Lack of coordination was felt. The show was stretched due which the essence of the show was lost.I hope you look at all this and plan a better show next time with only Gurukiran troop than the stars.I think his troop was excellent.

It was a great show and we all enjoyed a lot.The program sequence could have been better organized, but it happens....
Good singing from all the professional singers as well as local talent. The little girl's Hindi number (Chikni Chameli)was great, it is a tough song to sing live, also the Ooh lala duet was very good.

Instead of saying gate opening at arround 6.45 P.M. better tell gates gates opened at arround 7.10 P.M. making the audience to stand outside in Q for almost more than 45 minutes and above.
    Good luck next time.

Though the program was delayed right from the start, it was a good start by the mc Anushreee, but the pity is that it was not continued with the same tempo.

Most of the time was unnecessarily wasted by praising Yogi and Raagini whose contribution to the show was zero or -5. The sad part was that the great Mr. Yogi couldnt even speak a few words to the audience, couldnt dance, couldnt sing... He was better off as a normal spectator.

Gurukira has given good songs to the film industry. None of those songs were staged on the show.. THE show was dragging in between without any sort of coordiantion between the singers, dancers and teh MC. Mimikry was good. Harish was very good in his song. He seemed much better than the celebreties who were called from India.

I think the organizers have to learn a lot from this show.. it needed a lot more improvement....than just jatak matak on stage....GUD luck next time.... For me, it was a mere waste of money, and waste of time.

Well organized show, but wasted lot of time. Dayanand mimicry was very nice, jugalbandh was fantastic but missed by lot of music lovers because it was presented very late. "noorondu nenapu" from Harish sherigar was the best singing performance of the show. Over all good show, but missed melody songs from Guru Kiran"s Music like "Patra Bareyala" and many.
