Mangaluru, Aug 8: The department of Child Health Nursing, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences in collaboration with AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, department of Public Health Dentistry, and Public Health Centre, Amblamogaru, organised a breastfeeding week celebration and dental screening camp on August 7 at Bharath Friends Club, Pariyalla, Amblamogaru, under the guidance of Prof Dr Sujatha R, head of Child Health Nursing department.
The programme aimed to promote awareness on the importance of breastfeeding through a role play by fifth semester BSc Nursing students and a health education on breast feeding practices for mothers which was coordinated by Soniya D’Souza, lecturer department of Child Health Nursing.






A dental screening check-up was conducted by the department of Public Dentistry, A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangaluru which benefited 33 adults and 3 children. Among the 33 adults screened, 100% were identified as having dental problems like tooth decay, missing tooth, the need for scaling, and infected tooth requiring extraction. All the individuals were advised for further evaluation and treatment and referred to AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Derlakatte.
