Mangaluru, Aug 8: St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute, Mangaluru, organised Payana–2026, a combined welcoming ceremony, farewell programme and convocation ceremony to welcome the newly admitted trainees, bid farewell to the outgoing students, and celebrate the successful ITI and Diploma graduates. The programme brought together distinguished dignitaries, management, staff members, parents, alumni, graduating students and newly admitted trainees.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome and a special welcome video, followed by an introduction highlighting the significance of Payana–2026. A prayer song seeking God's blessings was presented, followed by a graceful Welcome Dance by the students.
The programme was graced by an esteemed gathering of dignitaries and members of the St Aloysius community. The institution extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to Fr Brian Pereira SJ, rector, St Aloysius University and president of the programme; Fr John D'Souza SJ, director; P B Ahmed Mudassar, president, Canara Chamber of Commerce and Industry and chief guest; Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar, St Aloysius University and guest of honour; Neil Rodrigues, programme manager, Infosys Ltd; Sunil Kumar M N, ASI, Jaquar Company; Rajshekar P, general manager – Service, Arvind Motors, Mangaluru; Roshan D'Souza, principal; Alwyn Menezes, vice principal; Noel Lobo, training officer; Wilson N; and Ravi, convenor of the programme. The programme was further enriched by the presence of respected staff members, beloved parents, alumni, graduating students, newly admitted trainees and distinguished guests.
The formal proceedings included the welcome speech delivered by Roshan D'Souza, principal, St Aloysius ITI. He extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, students, parents, staff members and guests gathered for the celebration. This was followed by the honouring of the esteemed dignitaries with shawls and mementos.
The traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony was then conducted, symbolising knowledge, hope and a bright future. The Annual Magazine of St Aloysius ITI was officially released during the programme. Alwyn Sequeira, editor of the Annual Magazine, was acknowledged for his valuable contribution in compiling and presenting the achievements, activities and memorable moments of the institution during the academic year.
The programme recognised students for their dedication and excellence. Students who achieved 100% attendance were honoured, while the diploma rank holders were felicitated for their outstanding academic performance. The rank holders included Wilma in diploma in fashion designing, Shreyas and Preevan in diploma in HVAC, and Manish Pinto in diploma in Electric Vehicle (EV) Technology.
The WAVES 2026 Fashion Show Project Work winners were also honoured for their creativity and innovation. The first prize for the Multi Gown Theme was awarded to Wilma, Neha, Deepika, Riya and Trupthi.
The diploma graduation certificate distribution ceremony was conducted for graduates of diploma in HVAC, diploma in Electric Vehicle Technology and diploma in fashion designing. The certificates were presented by Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar, St Aloysius University. The ceremony marked an important milestone in the academic and professional journey of the graduates.
The gathering was addressed by the chief guest, P B Ahmed Mudassar, who shared inspiring and motivating words with the students. Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar, St Aloysius University, also addressed the gathering and encouraged the students in their future endeavours. The guest of honour, Neil Rodrigues, programme manager, Infosys Ltd, addressed the gathering and shared words of professional guidance and encouragement with the graduates and newly admitted trainees.
One of the most memorable moments of PAYANA–2026 was the felicitation of Alwyn Menezes for completing 25 years of dedicated service at St. Aloysius ITI. His commitment, sincerity and contribution towards the institution and its students were recognised and appreciated. Robin Vas shared reflections on his inspiring journey, followed by a few words from Alwyn Menezes.
The programme continued with the certificate distribution ceremony for two-year ITI trades, covering electrician, electronics mechanic, Mechanic Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (MRAC), and Mechanic Motor Vehicle (MMV). This was followed by certificate distribution for one-year trades and NSDC Courses, including plumber, welder, mechanic diesel, field technician – Air conditioner batch 1 and Batch 2, Tata Motors, Multi Technician and Auto Electrician.
The programme concluded with the presidential address by Fr Brian Pereira SJ, followed by the vote of thanks delivered by Ravi. The closing message conveyed best wishes to the graduating students and warmly welcomed the newly admitted trainees into the St Aloysius family. The programme was compered by Padmavathi and Riya, who ensured the smooth and engaging conduct of the various segments of the celebration.
Payana–2026 was a memorable and meaningful celebration that beautifully brought together welcome, farewell and achievement. The programme successfully recognised academic excellence, skill development, creativity, discipline and dedicated service while creating a strong sense of belonging and inspiration among the students, staff, parents, alumni and the wider St. Aloysius community.
