Udupi, Aug 9: A rare otter was spotted in an agricultural field in Paddam near Hiriadka while the land was being ploughed on the night of Friday, August 7.

A local farmer, Raghavendra, was ploughing his field with a tractor when he suddenly noticed the unusual animal. According to Raghavendra, the otter did not leave the area immediately and was seen resting in the very same spot even on Saturday morning.

The sighting of the animal, known locally as 'neeru naayi', has generated curiosity among the locals, as otters are rarely seen in agricultural fields away from their typical water habitats.
