Muscat, Mar 25:
Lent is a time of preparation, when one gets mentally and spiritually ready for Easter. The main purpose of Lent is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ and one's life.

With this theme in mind, MCCP (The Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish – Sts Peter and Paul Church Ruwi ) organized a special spiritual programme 'Kursacha Vater' (On the Way of Cross) on Friday March 23 at the Ruwi Parish Hall between 4.30 - 7.30 pm.

The programme commenced with Mariete Fernandes, spiritual secretary welcoming and introducing the organizing team of the progam followed by vice-president, Spiritual Cultural & Community Services, Lawrence Alva’s message that Lent had a deeper meaning in everyone’s life. There were various opportunities in one’s life to do good in life and help people alleviate their pain and suffering.

Deepak D’Souza, a well-known personality in MCCP and main organizer of the drama has meticulously planned and executed it with his team members conveying a message through a young servant girl whose belief and acceptance of Jesus Christ in turn sacrificing herself to a man who tries to ruin her life made us compare Jesus’ sacrifice to humankind and his innocence with his wordings “Forgive them Lord, for they do not know what they are doing”.

The artistes of the drama were

He further stressed that one ought to give humankind in manifold to what one has received.

The executive committee in its effort to put forth a meaningful and spiritual programme have proved to be really successful and helped the audience to relive moments with the Lord. Their hard work behind the scene is worth commending and needs to be applauded.

The spiritual programme concluded with a traditional meal arranged by the MCCP committee.

Wonderful talents, wonderful co-ordination. Commendable, for the spirit shown be every individual of the team with all the difficulties faced due to minimum facilities made available. Hats off! to all the artistes who have really worked very hard to give us a stirring performance. To all those who attended am sure this was a very realistic performance they would have witnessed.

To have 45 artistes practicing together after office hours speaks a lot about their dedication to the talents they have. Their efforts are commendable. Kudos! to Deepak and his team. We look forward to many more wonderful performances by these talented artistes.
    Three cheers!! MCCP.

Once again MCCP has proved the theme 'together for a stronger community'. We had a vision to have many new talents to introduce this year, and there would not be a better occasion or event to introduce the new faces in large number - the 1st timers on the stage... welcome with your talents. The practice of 1 month for 3 hours till 11pm almost, after the tedious working hours, it is commendable. The time and efforts by the community members for putting up this show... is worth appreciating. The one man who has made it happen 'Deepak'... great job. Very minute detailing with props to the costumes, lights and sound sys including the direction.... with minimum infrastructure available, without allowing the spirit to , through out encouraging each one to maintain the pace and momentum, making them feel important... is stupendous. Deepak 'Kudos' Keep up the good work. All the members, a big thank you for your hard work, time and efforts. Apolyab wonderful background music to create the feeling but sorry we could not manage the choir due to time constraint. Sincere apologies to all the choir members. We have lived our vision of coming closer and getting stronger... Thanks to all who made it possible. EC & CC great support, great job. Mariete me dreamt, we made it. God bless
Celine - excellent reporting and Arun...beautiful pictures... your hard work in seen! Thank you.

Well done MCCP. People of Muscat are lucky to witness religious plays especially the "Passion of Christ" in lent. We in Dubai are not so lucky to witness such plays. I just wish if I could have been in Muscat to witness this drama.
