New Delhi, Aug 9: The Delhi Police prevented three separate suicide attempts and rescued a woman from the Yamuna while personnel were deployed for security and traffic arrangements related to the ongoing Kanwar activities, officials said on Sunday.

In the first incident on Saturday, police received information that a 16-year-old girl was allegedly attempting suicide at Lohia Pull following domestic issues. A police team immediately reached the spot and engaged the girl in conversation before counselling her and preventing the attempt.

Following necessary intervention, the girl was handed over to her family.

In another incident at around 8.23 pm on Saturday, the police received a PCR call from a woman in Noida stating that her brother was threatening to jump from Kalindi Kunj Pull.

A police team immediately established contact with the boy over the phone and traced his live location. Officers engaged him in real-time counselling and succeeded in preventing him from taking the extreme step. He was subsequently reunited with his family.

In the third incident, police personnel deployed near the Kalindi Kunj picket noticed a woman in the Yamuna and immediately rushed to the spot. With assistance from local divers, the woman was rescued from the river in an unconscious condition.

Police shifted her to a hospital for treatment without waiting for an ambulance, ensuring that she received medical attention without delay.

The incidents occurred while police personnel were carrying out security and traffic duties in connection with the ongoing Kanwar activities in the area.
