Mangaluru, Aug 11: The inauguration of the first-year MBA and IT programmes was held today at the AIMIT Centre of St Aloysius Deemed to be University, Mangaluru, marking the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the new batch of students.
The programme brought together the University leadership, faculty members, students and distinguished guests to warmly welcome the incoming students and inspire them towards a purposeful and successful academic experience. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr Justine James, dean, School of Business and Management.
The chief guest, Shivaprasad Ramarao, marketing head, Cothas Coffee, delivered an insightful and engaging address on the changing business environment and the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He highlighted that while technology is transforming the way businesses operate, human capabilities remain indispensable. He emphasised the importance of developing strong decision-making and problem-solving skills among students. He further stressed that possessing the right attitude is equally important for professional success and encouraged students to cultivate adaptability, curiosity and a positive approach towards learning and challenges.
The guest of honour, Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, vice chancellor, addressed the gathering and inspired the students to approach their academic journey with passion and enthusiasm. He encouraged the students to dream big, set ambitious goals and consistently strive for excellence. His message motivated the students to look beyond merely earning a degree and to focus on becoming competent, responsible and future-ready professionals.
Dr Kiran Coth, SJ, director of AIMIT Centre, welcomed the students into the campus community and encouraged them to remain focused on their studies. He urged the students to make the best possible use of the opportunities, resources and learning experiences available to them during their time at the University. He emphasised the importance of commitment, discipline and active participation in academic life.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Suchetha Vijayakumar, dean, School of Information Science and Technology. The programme was compered by Dr Annette Maben, faculty of Department of MBA.
The inauguration set an inspiring tone for the new academic year. The messages delivered by the dignitaries reinforced the importance of combining knowledge, technology, critical thinking, the right attitude, passion and excellence in preparing students to meet the demands of a rapidly changing professional world.
