Lagos, Aug 12: India continued its impressive medal-winning run at the Commonwealth Fencing Championship in Lagos, Nigeria, adding several more medals after securing 17 on the opening day.

Karan Singh and Sherjin Shanthimol clinched gold medals for India in the senior men's events.

In the men's Sabre final, Karan Singh staged a remarkable comeback against Australia's Yoongi Shim. Trailing 7-11, Karan fought back strongly to win 15-12 and claim the gold medal.

In the men's Epee final, Sherjin Shanthimol produced a dominant performance against second-seeded South African fencer Pieter Kruger, defeating him 15-6 to secure the top spot.

India also won a bronze medal in the senior men's Foil event, with Tejas Patil finishing on the podium in a highly competitive field featuring several renowned international fencers.

The Indian women continued their strong showing in the senior women's Epee event, winning three medals. Tanishka Khatri clinched the gold medal, while compatriot Khushi Dabhade secured silver. Prachi Lohan added another bronze, sharing third place with Australia's Harrison Asley.

India also secured three medals in the individual women's Sabre event. Aakhari won the silver medal after finishing behind England's Brierley, while Shruti Joshi and Jefarlin claimed bronze medals.

The strong performance has further strengthened India's medal tally at the championship, with the country's fencers continuing to dominate several individual events.
