Workshop on goal setting, time management held at Govt First Grade College, Kavoor

Mangaluru, Aug 12: Government First Grade College, Kavoor, organised a workshop on ‘Goal Setting and Time Management’ on August 12 in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Vidyarthi Parishad, Commerce and Management Association and Placement Cell.

Louis Manoj Ambrose, associate professor, Manjunatha Pai Memorial Government First Grade College, Karkala, was the resource person. Addressing the students, he emphasised that having clear goals and managing time effectively are essential for academic success as well as personal and professional growth. He explained that goal setting gives students a clear sense of direction, while proper time management helps them make consistent progress towards their objectives.

During his deliberation, Ambrose highlighted the importance of setting specific, realistic and achievable goals and breaking long-term ambitions into smaller, manageable tasks. He urged students to identify their priorities, prepare a practical schedule and avoid procrastination and unnecessary distractions. He also stressed that effective time management is not merely about being busy, but about making purposeful use of available time and maintaining a healthy balance between academics, extracurricular activities and personal responsibilities.

The session was made lively and engaging through a series of activities, interactive exercises and discussions. The students actively participated in the activities and shared their experiences and challenges related to goal setting and managing their daily routines. The interactive approach helped the participants understand practical strategies that could be incorporated into their student life.

Dr Therese Pereira, principal in-charge and IQAC coordinator, HOD of commerce and management, presided over the programme. Dr Santhosh Pinto, student welfare officer and coordinator of the Institution’s Innovation Council, placement officer Mamatha U, and coordinator of the Commerce and Management Association Jyothi Shetty S, were present.

Megha welcomed the guests and participants, while Poornima compered the programme. Poorvika proposed the vote of thanks.

The workshop provided students with valuable insights into developing disciplined habits, setting meaningful goals and making effective use of time to achieve academic and career aspirations.
