Bantwal, Aug 13: A major mishap was averted in Bantwal taluk, thanks to the presence of mind of a school student, who helped save a midday meal worker from an accident.
Manvith, a class 5 student of Narikombu Government Higher Primary School, displayed remarkable presence of mind during the incident.
While an Akshara Dasoha staff member was working at the school, her finger accidentally got caught in an electric grater. Hearing the staff member scream, Manvith, who was playing in the school premises, immediately rushed to the spot and switched off the power supply, thereby preventing further mishap.

The school teaching staff, School Development and Monitoring Committee president Ravi Anchan and its members appreciated the boy’s presence of mind. Akshara Dasoha assistant director Nonayya Naik and CRP Jyothi also visited the school and praised Manvith for his quick action.
