Mangaluru, Aug 13: The department of BBA, Institute of Management & Commerce, Srinivas University, organised an educational visit to Srinivas Hospital, Mukka, Surathkal, Mangaluru, on August 7, for I BBA students pursuing dual specialisation in Hospital Administration and Artificial Intelligence. The visit was aimed at providing students with practical exposure to hospital administration, healthcare operations, patient services and the functioning of various hospital departments.
Before the visit, Prof Shilpa K, HoD, department of BBA, briefed the students on discipline, professional conduct, active participation and the importance of systematic observation during the programme.
Prof Joyson Cardoza, Prof Ranjith Bhat, department of MSW, IMC, Srinivas University, and the accompanying team escorted the students and provided guidance throughout the visit. The students were divided into batches to facilitate systematic observation of the hospital's facilities and services.
The visit commenced at the basement, where students observed the emergency department, ICU and radiology facilities. On the first floor, students visited the super-specialty department, general OPD, blood centre, pharmacy, insurance and billing sections. They gained insights into the functions of these departments and their role in ensuring efficient patient care.
The students were subsequently taken to the second floor, where they observed the VIP rooms and lounges. On the third floor, they gained an understanding of the functioning of the General Inpatient Department and the services provided to admitted patients.
The visit enabled students to understand the coordination required among various hospital departments and provided practical insights into patient management, healthcare infrastructure and administrative operations. The programme also helped students connect their classroom learning with the real-world functioning of a healthcare organization.
The educational visit enhanced the students' practical knowledge and developed their observational, analytical, communication and managerial skills. It also provided valuable exposure to emergency care, ICU services, radiology, outpatient and inpatient services, pharmacy, blood centre operations, insurance and billing procedures.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr Venkatesh S Amin, dean, IMC; Prof Shilpa K, HoD, department of BBA; Prof Shwetha N S, course coordinator, BBA department; and Prof K Shivani and Prof Praveen S IV, faculty coordinators, BBA department. Prof Prakruti Shetty, Prof Akshay and Prof K Shivani accompanied the students during the visit.
