Beltangady, Aug 14: Venur police have apprehended a 46-year-old accused who had been absconding without appearing before the court for proceedings in a 2008 case.
The accused, identified as Mohammed Shareef (46), was wanted in connection with Venur police station Crime No. 71/2008, registered under Sections 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He had failed to appear for the proceedings and had been absconding. A warrant had been issued against him in CC No. 535/2016.

On August 13, a team comprising Venur police station personnel ASI Bennichan and PC Basavaraj, along with Praveen M from the Beltangady Sub-Division office, apprehended Mohammed Shareef.
He was produced before the Beltangady court, where the judge remanded him to judicial custody.
