Margao, Aug 14: The Enough is Enough movement will organise a mashal (torch) programme near the Margao Municipal Council building on Friday evening, seeking the scrapping of Section 39A of the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Act.
The movement’s Salcete coordinator Serafino Cota has appealed to people from Margao and Salcete to gather near the Margao Municipal Council building at 7.15 pm and participate in the programme.

Cota said the torch-lighting programme is part of a public awareness campaign being held across various talukas on the eve of Independence Day as part of the movement’s ongoing agitation against Section 39A.
The movement has submitted a 10-point charter of demands aimed at preventing further degradation of Goa.
Among its demands, the movement has called for amendments to Section 17A to prevent development on hills and curb the cutting of hills, stating that the state’s hills and forests are the heritage of its people.
The organisers have urged citizens to participate in the programme and raise awareness about the issues affecting Goa’s environment and development.
