Udupi: Case filed against private bus for dangerous travel

Udupi, Aug 15: A case has been registered at Kaup police station after a video showing passengers, including students, dangerously hanging from a private bus while travelling went viral on social media.

On August 14, a private express bus was travelling from Kaup towards Udupi. It was found that the driver and conductor were violating the conditions of the bus permit by carrying passengers beyond the permitted capacity.

In addition, students and other passengers were seen travelling in a dangerous manner while hanging from the footboard of the bus. A suo motu case has been registered at Kaup police station alleging that the bus was being driven recklessly and negligently, disregarding passenger safety and in a manner that could endanger their lives.
