Mangaluru, Aug 15: St Agnes High School, Bendore, celebrated Independence Day with great patriotic spirit and enthusiasm. The programme was conducted by the students of class 10 A. The celebration began with the flag hoisting ceremony, followed by a colourful cultural programme in the school auditorium.
The cultural programme commenced with a meaningful prayer, seeking God’s blessings for the occasion. This was followed by the welcome speech delivered by Santhosh, who warmly welcomed the gathering. A vibrant welcome dance added colour and enthusiasm to the programme.
A special skit highlighting the importance of Independence in the lives of modern youth was presented by the students. The skit conveyed a meaningful message about the value of freedom and the responsibilities of young citizens. This was followed by an energetic girls dance and a video presentation on Independence Day, reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
The boys dance further added energy and excitement to the celebration. The stage programme continued with the formal welcome of the chief guest, Poornima Shetty. She addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech and encouraged the students to value the freedom they enjoy, respect the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, and become responsible and patriotic citizens of the country reminding them that the future of the nation lies in the hands of the younger generation and motivated them to contribute positively to society.
The headmistress appreciated the efforts of teacher Wilma and class 10 A students for organising the programme. She encouraged the students to understand the true meaning of independence and to demonstrate patriotism through discipline, hard work, honesty, kindness and responsible behaviour. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Kiran, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, Headmistress, teachers, students and everyone who contributed to the successful celebration. The Independence Day celebration was a memorable and inspiring occasion that instilled a sense of patriotism, responsibility and pride in our nation among all the students.
