Mangaluru, Aug 15: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotic spirit and enthusiasm at the premises of St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute on August 15. The celebration was graced by Naveen Cedric D’Sa, general supervisor, Alpha Engineering, Kuwait, and Alumni – plumber, 1995–96 batch, as the chief guest.
Roshan D’Souza – principal; Romius Dsouza – ex plumber JTO; Wilson N – training officer; Manjunath Rao – convener, along with staff members and students, were present for the celebration. The programme commenced with a patriotic welcome, highlighting the significance of Independence Day and remembering the courage, sacrifices and dedication of the freedom fighters who fought for the freedom of our nation.
The gathering was reminded that freedom is not merely a right but also a responsibility to build a better nation. The celebration began with the singing of Vande Mataram, followed by the flag hoisting ceremony. The chief guest, Naveen Cedric D’Sa, was invited to hoist the national flag.
The gathering stood in attention and paid respect to the tricolour with pride and patriotism. The national flag fluttered proudly as the gathering joined in the spirit of national unity, concluding the ceremony with the patriotic slogans ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Jai Bharat.’ A welcome speech was delivered by Roshan D’Souza, principal, extending a warm welcome to the chief guest, dignitaries, staff members and students.
His words set the tone for the celebration and emphasized the importance of coming together to honour the nation and its values. The programme continued with a patriotic song presented by the electrician – 2nd year students.
Their performance filled the atmosphere with patriotic fervour and reflected their love and pride for the nation. The performers were appreciated and encouraged with a warm round of applause from the gathering. The chief guest, Naveen Cedric D’Sa, then addressed the gathering. In his inspiring and meaningful message, he motivated the students to become responsible citizens and encouraged them to make the best use of their education and skills.
His presence was particularly significant as an alumnus of St Aloysius ITI, plumber – 1995–96 batch, and his professional journey served as an inspiration to the students. The celebration continued with an impressive Pyramid Formation presented by the electrician – 2nd year students.
The performance showcased their teamwork, coordination, discipline and confidence and was greatly appreciated by everyone present. As the programme moved towards its conclusion, Shown proposed the vote of thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to the chief guest, principal, dignitaries, staff members and students for their presence, support and contribution towards making the celebration successful.
The entire programme was compered by Presley, electrician – 2nd year, who conducted the proceedings confidently and smoothly, ensuring the seamless flow of the celebration.
