Mangalore, Aug 15: Podar International School, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour, centred on the theme ‘Viksit Bharat – The responsibilities of the youth.’
As a special mark of respect on the occasion of the 150th year of the national song, the celebration commenced with students, teachers, parents and staff joining together in the singing of the national song.
The national flag was hoisted by Smitha Shetty, vice chairperson of the PTA executive committee and chief guest, along with Girish Kumar, principal. The programme featured a welcome dance, patriotic song, student speeches and a meaningful skit highlighting the role of young citizens in building a progressive India.




















The principal addressed the gathering, followed by the investiture ceremony, symbolising the formal assumption of responsibilities by the newly appointed student leaders. The occasion also witnessed the release of the school newsletter, The Campus Roots – Volume 7, Series 1.
Addressing the gathering, Smitha Shetty urged students to embrace education, discipline, values and responsible citizenship as they prepare to contribute to the nation's development.
The celebration concluded with the vote of thanks and school song, leaving the school community with a renewed spirit of patriotism, unity and commitment to the vision of Viksit Bharat.
