Udupi, Aug 15: Christ School celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India on August 15 with great patriotic fervour and pride. The celebration was graced by the presence of the honourable chief guest, Dr Shaila Angela Lewis.

The programme commenced with the introduction by Reshma Suares. The chief guest and dignitaries were escorted to the flagpole by the school band, accompanied by the correspondent, Fr Romeo Lewis; managing committee members; and PPC members.

The celebration continued with Vande Mataram, followed by the welcome address by Shiny. Vidya H V introduced the honourable chief guest, Dr Shaila Angela Lewis.

The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by the National Anthem and Vijayi Vishwa Tiranga Pyara. The march past, involving students from Classes VI to X, was conducted under the able leadership of Commander Martin Noronha, along with the Physical Education teachers. The students displayed discipline, coordination, and team spirit.

The programme continued with the felicitation of the honourable chief guest, followed by the importance of Independence Day and the address by the chief guest, whose inspiring words encouraged the students to value their freedom and fulfil their responsibilities as citizens.

A vibrant patriotic dance was then presented by the students, adding colour and spirit to the celebration.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the head girl, Vaishnavi Gaonkar, and the head boy, Glen Mario Lobo, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the celebration. The event concluded with the distribution of sweets.
