Vadodara , Aug 15: The Women’s Wing of Tulu Sangha Baroda, Gujarat, celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm on Saturday at the world’s first and only Tulu Chavadi, established by Tulu Sangha Baroda at Indiabulls Mega Mall. The celebration was given a meaningful and unique dimension with the theme “By Children, For Children, For the Sake of Children.”
The programme was held under the chairmanship of Dishan Dinakar Shetty, with Disha Saliyan and Deepti Ratnakar Shetty as the chief guests.
Tulu Sangha Baroda honorary president Dayananda Bontra and president Shashidhar B Shetty Guruvayankere inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp. They spoke to the children about the importance of patriotism, culture, good values and social responsibility.
Dayananda Bontra observed that in today’s modern digital era, social media has become an integral part of people’s daily lives. While it is extremely useful for sharing information and maintaining global connectivity, excessive use can also lead to mental stress and wastage of valuable time. He therefore urged everyone to preserve and follow their traditional culture while striving to make life meaningful.
He further emphasized that, amid technological and family-related pressures, middle-aged men and women must pay special attention to maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle through nutritious food, regular physical exercise, annual medical check-ups and proper care of their mental well-being.
Speaking on the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in today’s commercial and industrial sectors, Shashidhar Shetty noted that AI is increasing efficiency, accuracy and productivity to unprecedented levels. At the same time, the changes it is bringing to the employment market and the challenges concerning personal data privacy have created certain concerns in people’s daily lives. He called upon everyone to remain alert and prepare themselves wisely for the future.
He also urged people to make patriotism an integral part of life, just as self-respect is, and stressed that it should be the responsibility of every citizen to leave behind a greener, prosperous and stronger India for the coming generations.
The programme was organized under the leadership of Women’s Wing president Sharmila M Jain and secretary Baby Ganesh Shetty. Various competitions were conducted for members and children, including a fancy-dress competition, patriotic song competition and Tulu speech competition. Prizes were presented to the winners.
The special contributions and cooperation of Women’s Wing members Pramila Shetty, Manjula Gowda, Manohari Shetty, Jayashree Jinraj, Kavitha Gowda, Ganavi Gowda, as well as Karthik Gowda, Ravindra Shetty and Madan Gowda Moodigere, were particularly acknowledged.
The programme, which brought together children’s talent, patriotism and Tulu culture on a single platform, received widespread appreciation. Sharmila M Jain said that the unique celebration organized by Tulu Sangha Baroda successfully instilled not only a spirit of patriotism among children but also pride in their language, culture and heritage.
Manya Gowda and Avani Kotyan welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. Rithi Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.
