Mangaluru, Aug 15: The Independence Day celebration was observed with great grandeur and patriotic spirit at the grounds of Lady Hill Victoria High School. The programme commenced with a soulful rendition of ‘Vande Mataram,’ setting a patriotic and inspiring tone for the occasion.
Following this, Nirali extended a warm and cordial welcome to the distinguished guests, staff, students, parents, and other attendees.
The national flag was solemnly hoisted by the chief guest, Sandesh Kumar, a distinguished former military officer, in the presence of the headmistress, Sr Pushpa Pinto A C; the principal of the P U College, Sr Sharmila AC; and the vice president of the PTA, Avitha. The flag-hoisting ceremony was followed by a moment of pride and reverence as everyone joined in honouring the nation.

Jaishnavi delivered an eloquent speech on the significance of Independence Day, highlighting the importance of freedom, unity, patriotism, and our responsibility as citizens in building a strong and harmonious nation.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Vanshi, expressing sincere gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, staff, students, parents, and all those who contributed to making the celebration a memorable one.
The celebration was further enlivened by a vibrant cultural programme, in which the students showcased their talents and the rich cultural heritage of our nation. Their enthusiastic performances added colour, joy, and patriotic spirit to the occasion, making the Independence Day celebration truly memorable.
The cultural programme commenced with a universal prayer service, embracing the spirit of unity, harmony, and reverence among people of all faiths. Following the prayer, the dignitaries and guests illuminated the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the dawn of knowledge and wisdom.
The programme featured an elegant welcome dance celebrating India’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, setting a vibrant and graceful tone for the occasion. One of the highlights of the programme was a thought-provoking skit presented by the students. The skit poignantly portrayed various challenges faced by India today, particularly those affecting the younger generation, conveying an important message of awareness and responsibility.
The esteemed chief guest, Sandesh Kumar, a distinguished former military officer, delivered an inspiring address. He encouraged the students to understand their responsibilities as citizens, uphold good values, and actively contribute towards the progress and development of the nation.
The programme concluded with a graceful classical dance performance, followed by patriotic dances that added to the spirit of the celebration and further enriched the cultural ambience.
The entire programme was compered by Sweedol, the school pupil leader, who conducted the proceedings with confidence and elegance.
As a gesture of celebration and goodwill, sweets were distributed to all the students, and lunch was provided on the occasion. The cultural programme thus concluded on a joyful and memorable note, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of patriotism, unity, and pride in our nation.
