Bantwal, Aug 16: Bantwal Rural police have busted an alleged drug trafficking network and arrested a 35-year-old Bengaluru resident, seizing MDMA, cocaine and other articles with a total estimated value of Rs 1,05,59,450.
On August 16, 2026, police sub-inspector Manjunath T of Bantwal Rural police station received information that narcotic substances were being transported from the Hassan side towards Mangaluru.
Acting on the information, Manjunath T and his staff intercepted a car bearing registration number KA-01-MA-1284 late at night. The driver was identified as Mohammed Ameer Jartab (35), a resident of Kengeri, Bengaluru.
During questioning, Jartab reportedly admitted that he was transporting narcotic substances in the car.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 538.63 grams of MDMA and 99.12 grams of cocaine, along with empty plastic containers, a digital weighing machine and other articles.
The seized MDMA was estimated to be worth Rs 53,86,300, while the cocaine was valued at Rs 49,56,000. Including the value of the other property seized, the total estimated value of the recovered items stood at Rs 1,05,59,450.
A case has been registered at Bantwal Rural police station under Crime No. 113/2026, under Section 8(C) with Sections 22(C) and 21(B) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The case is being investigated further.
