Udupi, Aug 17: St Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE), Udupi celebrated the 80th Independence Day with enthusiastic and patriotic spirit.
The campus students proudly participated in the solemn flag hoisting ceremony by the esteemed chief guest Jose MC, ARSI, District Armed Reserve, Udupi, in the presence of the principal, Sr Lathika AC, administrator, Sr Maria Roopa AC, superior of St Cecily’s Convent, Sr Priya AC, heads of sister Institutions of the campus and PTA vice president, Sushma S. The guests were ushered to the venue by the elegant school band.



















































In his keynote address to the audience, Jose urged all to remain committed to the Nation as united citizens and work selflessly towards making India Athmanirbhar.
Following the flag hoisting ceremony, students of grades 7A and 7B presented a vibrant and meaningful cultural programme to commemorate India’s freedom from British rule.
The programme commenced with a soulful flute rendition by Moulika, followed by a melodious patriotic song by Gaurav. The cultural presentations also included a skits portraying Unity in diversity and ‘The present-age scenario of Independence’, an elegant patriotic classical dance, a heart-warming song, an energetic dance by the boys’, paying tribute to the valour and dedication of the Indian military, and a vibrant dance by the girls showcasing the pride, beauty and spirit of India. All these performances evoked a strong sense of national pride in the student audience.
The esteemed chief guest then distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted by the school during the month, as a mark of celebrating Independence Day 2026.
The day’s celebrations concluded with vote of thanks by Manha.
The kindergarten students too expressed their love for the Nation by putting up a meaningful programme on August 14, with thematic action songs and dances. The school administrator, Sr Maria Roopa AC, who presided over the unique programme presented by the tiny tots, delivered her inspiring message on the significance of Independence Day.
The 80th Independence Day celebration at St Cecily’s CBSE School was a memorable blend of patriotism, culture, talent and meaningful reflection, leaving the audience with a renewed sense of pride and a deeper understanding of the responsibilities that accompany freedom.
