New Delhi, Aug 17: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and discussed various development projects and issues concerning the state.

The meeting comes as the Maharashtra government continues to pursue major infrastructure and development initiatives requiring coordination between the state and central governments.

The Prime Minister's Office confirmed the meeting in a post on X, saying, “Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri @Dev_Fadnavis met Prime Minister @narendramodi.”

Following the meeting, Fadnavis said he made a detailed presentation to Modi on the progress of several development projects in Maharashtra and sought greater support from the Centre for initiatives being implemented jointly by the two governments.

“I called on and met our global leader, Nation's beloved PM Narendra Modi Ji in New Delhi today. We had a detailed discussion on various topics. I briefed him on progress of numerous developmental projects and requested for more support from GoI on the joint Centre-State projects,” Fadnavis said in a post on X.

He said the meeting was motivating and expressed gratitude to Modi for his guidance on development-related issues and continued support to Maharashtra.

The discussions also provided an opportunity for the state government to raise requirements related to projects where approvals, funding or coordination between central and state agencies are needed.

Fadnavis said information on several ongoing development projects was presented during the meeting and sought the Centre's cooperation for schemes being implemented in coordination with the Maharashtra government.

Several major infrastructure initiatives in Maharashtra involve coordination between state departments and central ministries or agencies. Such projects may require clearances, financial assistance and administrative coordination at multiple levels.

The meeting between Fadnavis and Modi comes amid Maharashtra's continued focus on infrastructure, transport, urban development and other sectors. The state government has been seeking greater Centre-state coordination for projects involving both levels of government.

Fadnavis said he was grateful to Modi for his guidance on development-related matters and the support extended to Maharashtra.
