Udupi, Aug 18: A voluntary blood donation camp was organized with the collaboration of Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society, the Blood Bank Department of KMC Manipal, the Udupi district administration and other organizations, at the Government First Grade College auditorium in Malpe on August 16.
The camp was jointly organized under the leadership of the Malpe unit of the Mogaveera Youth Organization, Udupi district, its women’s organization and G Shankar Family Trust, Ambalpady, Udupi. More than 30 people voluntarily donated blood during the camp.



Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society president Jayakar Shetty Indrali inaugurated the camp. Speaking on the occasion, he said blood donation is a vital service that can help save the lives of patients in need. A single blood donation can potentially help up to four people, he said, adding that regular participation by youth in blood donation drives can ensure timely availability of blood for patients in hospitals. He appreciated the G Shankar Family Trust and Mogaveera Youth Organization for consistently organizing blood donation camps over the past several years.
As part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, retired soldier Santosh Shreeyan was felicitated during the program in recognition of his service to the nation.
Malpe Women’s Organization president Sampreetha Rohith presided over the program.
Badagabettu Society Malpe branch manager Naveen K welcomed the gathering, while Mahesh Kumar proposed the vote of thanks. Yashoda Keshav compered the program.
Mogaveera Youth Organization district president Ravish Koravadi, former president Jayanth Amin, secretary Shekhar Tholar, Rotary Malpe Karavali president Suresh Karkera, former Rotary Kalyanpur president Rama Poojary, Hanuman Vitthoba Bhajana Mandir president Ravi Kanchan, Badagabettu Society general manager Rajesh Sherigar and Dr Ojaswi of KMC Manipal were present.
