Mangaluru, Aug 18: A CCTV trail and information from police informants have led Urwa police to the arrest of a 40-year-old man allegedly involved in the theft of a Honda Dio scooter from Kodikal in Mangaluru.
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Faizal alias Thota Faizal, 40, son of late Ibrahim, a resident of Baitul Kausar, New Thota House, Kodi, Ullal, Mangaluru.
The case was registered at Urwa police station on July 24, 2026, after a Honda Dio scooter bearing registration number KA-19-EB-2226, parked in front of a house at Kodikal, was reported stolen.

Following the complaint, Urwa police launched an investigation and examined CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to trace the suspect. The footage helped police track his movements and identify his appearance. Information gathered from informants further helped investigators establish the accused’s identity and whereabouts.
Police traced the accused and the stolen two-wheeler and arrested him on Tuesday, August 18.
The investigation has also revealed a much longer criminal record. Police said more than 40 cases have been registered against Faizal at various police stations across Karnataka and Kerala.
Police also found that arrest warrants are pending against him in cases registered across North Mangaluru, Konaje, Ullal, Moodbidri, Bantwal Rural and Manipal police stations.
The case has been registered under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Further investigation is under way.
