Kasargod: Thousands of Fans Greet Cricketer Irfan Pathan

Kasargod, Mar 26: Thousands of fans of Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan gathered here on Sunday March 25 when he arrived to attend a private function.

The fans gathered since Sunday afternoon, as Irfan Pathan was expected in city on Sunday evening. 

He arrived to Mangalore by flight and reached Uppala near here by road on Sunday afternoon. The fans tried to get his autographs and click pictures. 

He stayed for a few hours at a private hotel in Nullippady near here and inaugurated a project by Win Touch Builders at the municipal stadium. Music reverberated on the occasion, with a full-fledged concert that had the crowd in raptures.

Pathan however, refused meeting with mediapersons. The visit took place amidst heavy security.

Though mediapersons were unlucky, all-rounder Irfan Pathan did oblige Errol Gonsalves, RJ with 92.7 Big FM, with a brief interview.


How do you feel visiting Kasargod?

Irfan: I am very delighted. Many fans and supporters arrived at the airport to receive me. I am overwhelmed with the love they showered on me. I have heard a lot about this place, especially about its natural beauty. This is my first visit here. Hopefully I can visit again.


You were out of the team for a long time. How was the pressure?

Irfan: I love cricket. Because of this it was a tough time for me being out of the team. During this time I got full support from my friends and family. Thanks to them, I have regained my confidence and it has helped me work hard.


Are u satisfied with your performance in Asia cup

Irfan: Every time I try to give my best. Overall, am satisfied.


How about your IPL preparations?

Irfan: A few more days are left for IPL to begin for which I am practicing. I am sure I will perform well in IPL matches too.


What would be your message to aspiring youngsters?

Irfan: Education is a must. Study well and at the same time take part in sports too. Never lose patience. God’s grace and blessings of elders is very important. All the best.


What do you have to say about Sachin’s retirement?
