Mangaluru: Catholic Sabha seeks impartial SIT probe into Hanur firing

Mangaluru, Aug 19: The Catholic Sabha of the Mangalore diocese, along with a Christian delegation led by member of the Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza, expressed deep concern over the tragic incident in the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary in Hanur Taluk of Chamarajanagar district, where forest officials allegedly opened fire, resulting in the deaths of three innocent persons.

The delegation met Karnataka forest minister Ramalinga Reddy and urged the government to conduct a proper and impartial SIT (Special Investigation Team) inquiry into the incident and take appropriate action against those responsible.

They also appealed to the minister to provide suitable compensation to the families of the deceased, who were from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The delegation included Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh president Santhosh D’Souza, political convenor Stany Lobo, vice-president Steven Rodrigues, and Alphons Fernandes.
