Udupi: Bharat Co-operative Bank celebrates 48th Foundation Day with grandeur

Udupi, Aug 21: Bharat Co-operative Bank (Mumbai) Limited, one of the country’s prominent multi-state scheduled co-operative banks, celebrated its 48th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm at its head office in Goregaon East on August 21.

The programme was formally inaugurated by the bank’s vice-president, advocate Somanath B Amin, who sought the blessings of Brahmashree Narayana Guru and cut the cake to mark the occasion.

As part of the Foundation Day celebrations, the bank launched a special deposit mobilisation campaign to promote its popular Recurring Deposit schemes, ‘Millionaire’ and ‘Lakhpathi’, and make their benefits accessible to a wider section of customers. The campaign was inaugurated by vice-president advocate Somanath B Amin along with members of the board of directors.

Due to unavoidable circumstances, the bank’s chairman, Suryakanth Jaya Suvarna, could not attend the programme in person. He conveyed his heartfelt message to all the staff members on the occasion. In his message, he said that the bank achieving a business turnover of Rs 20,000 crore during the year was a moment of immense happiness and pride. He attributed the achievement to the continuous hard work and commitment of the bank’s shareholders, customers, well-wishers and, most importantly, its employees.

Suryakanth Jaya Suvarna also expressed gratitude to the shareholders for their continued trust and support, noting that the bank had declared and paid a 10% dividend at its 50th Annual General Meeting held on August 19. “This is not the end, but a new beginning. Let us work together with greater dedication and achieve bigger goals in the coming days,” he said.

The chairman Suryakanth Jaya Suvarna further stated that the bank was continuously investing in modern technology to provide better facilities and services to customers. He added that the bank considered its employees its greatest strength and remained committed to their skill development, regular training and well-being. “We are not merely a bank, we are a legacy of people’s trust,” he said.

Addressing the gathering, vice-president advocate Somanath B Amin said the entire credit for the bank’s continuous achievements and new milestones in the financial sector went to its employees. He appreciated their dedication and hard work and urged them to ensure that customer service remained the bank’s top priority. He called upon the staff to make customers aware of the benefits of the ‘Millionaire’ and ‘Lakhpati’ recurring deposit schemes and encourage a culture of savings among the public.

Directors Gangadar J Poojary, Mohandas G Poojary, Niranjan L Poojary, Ganesh D Poojary, Gowresh R Kotian and Jayashree M Hejmadi, general managers Mahesh B Kotian, Janardhana M Poojary, Manjula Suvarna and Mohan Salian, along with deputy general managers, assistant general managers and bank employees, attended the celebration.
