Udupi, Aug 22: Social worker, activist and political leader Veronica Cornelio was bestowed with AICU centenary award 2026 for her community service by The All-India Catholic Union, Asia’s largest laity organisation.
The award was presented during the 107th year AICU general body meeting held in Delhi on August 22. The awards consist of a citation, a memento and Rs 25,000.
Veronica Cornelio is an active Congress party worker along with her service in social service and other social arenas. Being a leader of Catholic Sabha, she was instrumental in introducing the health cards for the community and providing the best medical care for the sick and needy.


She is also serving as the KPCC spokesperson and has served as the member of Kemmannu gram panchayat multiple times. Veronica Cornelio, who hails from Kemmannu, is actively involved in the field of social service for the past 20 years.
She has served as one of the first woman presidents of Udupi taluk panchayat and has been an elected taluk panchayat member from Uppoor and Padu Thonse electoral areas.
She also served as the chairman of Karnataka Soap and Detergents Limited and was instrumental in popularising the brand.
