Udupi, Aug 22: George Samuel (79), vice-president of Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society Limited and senior Lions leader, passed away at a private hospital in Udupi on Saturday following a brief illness.

A resident of Guddeangadi in Udyavara, George Samuel was an active member of the Lions Club Udyavara. He had also served as the former cabinet secretary of Lions District 317C.

George Samuel was actively involved in various social and community initiatives as a leader of the Protestant Christian community. He had also served for several years as a member of the Souharda Committee of St Francis Xavier Church, Udyavara.

He is survived by his wife and children.

Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society president Jayakar Shetty Indrali, members of the Lions Club, members of the Udyavara Souharda Committee, and leaders and members of the Protestant Christian community expressed deep condolences on his demise.
