Udupi, Aug 24: Trinity Central School, Udupi, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great patriotic fervour, pride and enthusiasm. The celebration brought together students, teachers, PTA members and dignitaries to honour the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters and reaffirm the values of unity, discipline and responsible citizenship.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial escort of the chief guest, Subhas, president of the programme Fr Manohar Mervin D’Souza and other dignitaries to the dais, accompanied by the school marching band. The celebration began with a prayer led by the school choir, followed by a warm welcome address.
The highlight of the morning was the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the singing of the national anthem and the flag song. The school’s march past was a magnificent display of discipline, unity and patriotism. The Scouts and Guides, along with the various student contingents of different houses marched proudly to the rhythmic beats of the school band, showcasing their dedication and team spirit.
The gathering was then addressed by the chief guest, whose inspiring words encouraged the students to dream big, serve society and contribute meaningfully to the nation. Fr Manohar Mervin D’Souza, president of the programme, also shared a valuable message with the gathering. The dignitaries were further invited to unveil the annual school magazine for the academic year 2025–26 and the song book of Trinity, ‘TRINTUNES’ celebrating the school’s journey, achievements and cherished memories.
The cultural programme beautifully reflected the spirit of India through a vibrant blend of music, dance, drama, poetry and speeches. The kindergarten students delighted the audience with a role play portraying legendary Indian leaders. Patriotic songs, an English speech inspired by the vision of Dr B R Ambedkar, a meaningful skit on the sacrifices of freedom fighters, a Hindi poem, a Kannada speech and a spectacular patriotic dance added colour and significance to the celebration.
A special moment of pride was the felicitation of Shamika Naik of grade 10 A, who secured first place at both the zonal and regional levels of the prestigious ASISC poem writing competition. Her achievement has earned her a place at the national level. Her accomplishment was celebrated as an inspiration to students to pursue excellence with confidence and dedication.
In his address the principal Fr Dominic Sunil Lobo, appreciated the students for their talent, dedication and patriotic spirit and encouraged them to strive for excellence and serve the nation with commitment.
At the juncture, the school proudly felicitated its talented Scouts and Guides students who received the prestigious Rajya Puraskar Award for their dedication, discipline, commitment and outstanding achievements in the Bharat Scouts and Guides Movement. The awardees honoured on the occasion were Shravan Sudhakar Prabhu, Gowrav V Kundar, Rachel Mascarenhas, Sharvani, Goutham A Naik, Rusham Yogish Naik, Suhan, Shamika Naik, Sachin S Maraladinni and Nishmitha Nithish Poojary.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, staff, students and everyone who contributed to the success of the celebration.
