Puttur, Aug 24: The Puttur city police conducted a flag march on August 24 to boost public confidence and instil a sense of security among residents ahead of Eid Milad.
The police have also made necessary security arrangements to ensure that no shops or commercial establishments are forcibly closed on the occasion of the festival.
While most shops are expected to remain closed naturally on Eid Milad, the police have made it clear that there will be no scope for anyone to forcibly shut shops or other commercial establishments. Adequate security arrangements have been put in place to prevent such incidents.
With regard to the recent clash in Puttur, the police have already registered a suo motu complaint and issued notices to those concerned, the press release stated.
However, rumours are being circulated that the police are taking the case lightly. Rejecting the claims, the police said this was “far from the truth”.
The police pointed out that notices had been issued in several previous cases as well, without considering caste, religion or political influence.
“If anyone wishes to discuss this matter, they are welcome to come and discuss it openly,” the police said, urging people not to rely on rumours regarding the action being taken in the case.
