Mangaluru, Aug 25: The Dakshina Kannada women's police have registered a case against a man under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually harassing a minor girl on the pretext of dropping her home.
The accused has been identified as Addu Padil.
According to the complaint filed by the victim's mother, the incident occurred on the night of Sunday, August 23. The accused had offered to drop the minor girl home on his two-wheeler after a programme. However, en route, he allegedly subjected the minor to sexual harassment.
Based on the mother's complaint, the Dakshina Kannada women's police have registered an FIR (Crime No 46/2026) under section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, and sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act.
Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
