Udupi, Aug 25: A total of 31,903 cases where voter details could not be linked with the previous electoral roll, and 65,803 cases involving logical discrepancies or anomalies identified during verification after the linkage process have been detected in Udupi district, deputy commissioner Swaroopa T K said.

Addressing a press conference held on August 24 at the deputy commissioner's office in Manipal, the deputy commissioner said cases in which details could not be linked with the previous electoral roll, as well as those where logical discrepancies or other anomalies were found during post-linkage verification, have been identified.

The concerned electoral registration officers (EROs) will issue notices to voters in such cases as per the rules. Where necessary, EROs may also issue notices suo motu, providing the concerned voters an opportunity to establish their claims and submit the required documents.

A total of 97,706 cases have been identified across the district's five assembly constituencies.

  • 118-Byndoor: 3,891 unlinked cases and 11,275 logical discrepancy/anomaly cases, totalling 15,166 cases.

  • 119-Kundapura: 4,233 unlinked cases and 6,945 logical discrepancy/anomaly cases, totalling 11,178 cases.

To facilitate the hearing process for voters, additional assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs) have been appointed.
