Bantwal, Aug 25: Poverty is no barrier to dreaming big, and the life of Sesappa, a resident of Navoor in Bantwal taluk and a civic worker (pourakarmika) at the Bantwal Town Municipal Council, is a perfect example. Arriving at work in a Fortuner car worth lacs of rupees, he has turned his dream into reality through sheer hard work and determination.

Sesappa joined the municipal council in 1996 for a daily wage of just Rs 50. For the first five years, he commuted to work on a bicycle. While sweeping the streets, he would watch people driving by in cars and dreamt that one day he, too, would travel in a car.

Over time, after becoming a permanent employee at the municipal council, his path to realizing his dream began. He first bought a Maruti 800, followed by a Maruti Omni, Swift, Alto, and a Scorpio. Now, he has purchased a 2013-model second-hand Toyota Fortuner. Sesappa shared that he bought all these vehicles with the help of bank loans.

Hard work is the strength of his life

Every day, Sesappa arrives at B C Road at 5 am and engages in cleaning work until 12 noon. He handles various departmental tasks, from sweeping the streets to other civic duties. After his municipal shift, he goes for daily wage work. Besides this, he rears cattle at home and manages the water supply work for the local panchayat near his house.

Sesappa leads a simple life with his family, comprising his wife, two daughters, and a son. His son is involved in the service of Daiva Nema (spirit worship) as a dancer, while one daughter is employed, and the other is pursuing her education.

His life journey, which began on a humble bicycle and has now reached a Fortuner car, stands as a testament that with hard work, determination, and a dream, one can overcome poverty.
