Moodbidri, Aug 25: An orientation programme – 2026 on Civil Services, Competitive Examinations and Career Opportunities was organised at Corpus Christi Church Hall, Moodbidri, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The programme was jointly organised by the Commission for Education, Corpus Christi Church, in association with the Catholic Sabha, Moodbidri Unit and Y.C.S., Moodbidri Unit, for High School and PUC students and their parents.
The programme aimed to create awareness about Civil Services, competitive examinations, government careers, self-employment, entrepreneurship and various career opportunities. It also encouraged students to plan their careers thoughtfully and prepare themselves for future challenges.
The programme began with a prayer song by the catechism students, seeking God’s blessings. Elnora Pinto served as the compere. Marcel D’Souza, vice president of the parish pastoral council, along with representatives and members of the Education Commission, Catholic Sabha and Y.C.S., graced the occasion.
Clara D’Costa, convener of the education commission, delivered the welcome address and emphasised the importance of providing young people with proper career guidance and exposure to diverse opportunities.
The resource person, Prof. Clement J. D’Souza, former professor and dean, School of Humanities, St. Joseph’s University, Bengaluru, brought over three decades of experience in higher education, academic leadership, career guidance and student development.
Through an engaging and informative session, Prof. D’Souza explained the opportunities available through Civil Services and other competitive examinations, government services, entrepreneurship and self-employment. He encouraged students to recognise their abilities, set clear goals, develop relevant skills and pursue their aspirations with discipline and perseverance.
The interactive session proved highly informative and motivating, inspiring students to explore career options beyond conventional choices and understand the importance of early preparation and continuous learning.
Leena D’Silva and Joswin Lobo proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person, dignitaries, organisers, teachers, students and all contributors.
The programme concluded as a meaningful initiative towards empowering young minds to make informed career choices and confidently prepare for their future.
