Mangaluru, Aug 26: Expert PU College, Kodialbail, celebrated Onam with colour, tradition and festive cheer, bringing the rich cultural heritage of Kerala to life on the campus.

The celebrations began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice-chairperson, Expert Group of Institutions, marking the auspicious beginning of the festivities.

A vibrant Pookkalam, created with creativity and teamwork by the students, was one of the major attractions of the celebration. The intricate floral design added colour and traditional charm to the occasion.

The cultural programme featured a graceful performance of Thiruvathirakkali by the college staff. The coordinated movements and rhythmic presentation captured the essence of Kerala’s traditional art form.

Adding to the festive spirit, the staff appeared in traditional Kerala attire, with the women dressed in elegant Kasavu sarees and the men in Kaili mundu.

Prof Ramachandra Bhat, principal; B Vinay Kumar, academic member and mathematics lecturer; Karunakar Balkur, coaching head and Kannada lecturer, along with other staff members, were present.

The celebration brought together students and staff in a joyful tribute to the traditions, values and spirit of Onam.
