Kundapur, Aug 26: Thirty fishermen were safely rescued after a purse seine fishing boat developed a crack and began taking in water while fishing off the Gangolli coast in Udupi district.
The incident occurred when the boat was operating around three nautical miles from Gangolli. The boat reportedly sustained damage after being hit by strong waves, following which water began entering the vessel and it gradually started sinking.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Coastal Security Police immediately launched a rescue operation. The operation was carried out under the leadership of Coastal Reserve police inspector Ramesh K.
With the assistance of local fishermen, the rescue team safely evacuated all 30 fishermen from the boat and brought them safely back to shore.
No casualties have been reported in the incident.
