Sullia, Aug 27: Three persons sustained severe injuries after a lorry lost control and overturned onto a parked Tempo Traveller (TT) near Devarakolli in Aranthodu on Wednesday evening, August 26.
According to details, a group of tourists from Ahmedabad in Gujarat were travelling from Madikeri towards Mangaluru. They had temporarily parked their TT vehicle by the roadside near the Devarakolli Abbi Falls when the mishap occurred.
A lorry travelling on the same route towards Sullia lost control and toppled directly onto the parked passenger vehicle. Out of the seven tourists inside the TT, one passenger was critically injured. The lorry driver and the cleaner also sustained severe injuries in the crash.
The injured were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Sullia through ambulances. A crane was later pressed into service to lift the overturned lorry and clear the highway.
