Udupi, Aug 27: A much-needed lift facility has been inaugurated at Mount Rosary School in Santhekatte, providing greater accessibility to differently abled students, patients and parents, and making it easier to access the auditorium located on the upper floor of the four-storey school building.
Senior building contractor from the Santhekatte area, Gerald D’Souza, inaugurated the facility during a programme held on the school premises.

Delivering the blessing, school correspondent Fr Dr Roque D’Souza said the school management had fulfilled a long-standing demand for the benefit of the large student community. He noted that Mount Rosary School is the first state-syllabus school in the Brahmavar educational zone to have a lift facility.
The school felicitated Gerald D’Souza for conceptualising the project and completing the work within the stipulated time, and Prashanth for providing the electrical connection.
Assistant parish priest Fr Rohan Mascarenhas, vice-president Baptista Dias, secretary Priya Furtado, Sisters Sangeetha D’Souza and Jaya Mathias of Goretti Convent, members of the parish finance committee, members of the school management committee, PTA president Tanuja Shetty, headmistress Sister Ancilla D’Mello and others were present.
Students Viola Colaco and Nishel welcomed the gathering and proposed the vote of thanks, while Ayshel D’Souza compered the programme.
