Mangaluru: Heavy rain, strong winds damage garage near Kottara Chowki; three vehicles damaged

Mangaluru, Aug 27: A massive tree and an electricity pole came crashing down onto a garage near Kottara Chowki during heavy rain and strong winds in the early hours of Thursday, damaging three four-wheelers and causing extensive damage to the building.

The incident occurred at around 2.15 am, when strong winds lashed the area. The watchman's room located on the upper portion of the garage was also damaged.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The tree and electricity pole brought down onto the garage damaged three vehicles parked inside. The building owners said the combined loss to the building and vehicles was estimated at around Rs 4 to 5 lac.

Following the damage to the electricity pole, MESCOM officials visited the spot and assessed the situation. As a precautionary measure, they disconnected the power supply. The officials later installed a new electricity pole and restored power supply to the local residents.
