Giridhara Saliyan bags bronze at World Masters Athletics Championship in South Korea

Mangaluru, Aug 27: Indian athlete Giridhara Saliyan has won a bronze medal in the Javelin Throw M60 category at the World Masters Athletics Daegu Championships 2026, being held at Daegu Stadium in South Korea.

Saliyan represented India in the M60 category and recorded a throw of 48.04 metres to secure the bronze medal.

According to the diploma issued by World Masters Athletics, Saliyan was awarded the bronze medal for his performance in the Javelin Throw M60 event. The diploma bears the signatures of WMA President Margit Jungmann and Daegu Metropolitan City Mayor Choo Kyung-Ho.

The World Masters Athletics Daegu Championships 2026 commenced on August 22 and will continue until September 3 in Daegu, South Korea, bringing together veteran athletes from across the world to compete in various track and field events.

Saliyan's podium finish has brought laurels to India at the international masters athletics championship.
