Kundapur, Aug 28: The remains of the ‘Sri Balanjaneya’ fishing boat, which sank in the sea near the Gangolli estuary on Wednesday, were found on the Handattu seashore at Kota Padukere on Thursday.
The boat, which sank into the sea, was completely shattered, and its remains were found washed ashore and gathered at one spot along the coastline. Inspector Ramesh K of the Gangolli Coastal Security police station, sub-inspector Subrahmanya and other personnel visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
The purse seine boat ‘Sri Balanjaneya’, owned by Nagaraj Moger of Mundalli in Bhatkal, had ventured into the sea from Gangolli for fishing. It got caught in strong waves in the estuary area a short distance from Gangolli port and sank into the sea.
Local fishermen and Gangolli Coastal Security Police rescued all 27 fishermen who were in danger. The fishing nets and other equipment on board the boat were also lost at sea.
