Mangaluru, Aug 29: The TB awareness programme was successfully conducted on August 24 at the SIAHS Block, Mukka Campus, by the Srinivas Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Srinivas University. The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness about tuberculosis, its prevention, early detection, treatment, and the importance of collective efforts toward building a TB-free community.

The programme was hosted by Ashmitha G Nayak, assistant professor, department of CVT, and Shanwil Shaun D’Souza, assistant professor, department of FSC. The gathering was welcomed by Vikhyath Banger, assistant professor, department of neuroscience. The chief guest for the programme was Dr Pavana Krishnamoorthy, dean, SIAHS, who highlighted the importance of health awareness initiatives in promoting timely diagnosis and prevention of communicable diseases.

The awareness session was delivered by Maureen Edward, assistant professor, department of microbiology, who explained the causes, mode of transmission, common signs and symptoms, preventive measures, significance of early diagnosis, and the importance of completing the prescribed treatment for tuberculosis. The session emphasized the message “Yes! We Can End TB: Led by Countries, Powered by People” and encouraged participants to contribute toward reducing stigma and spreading scientifically accurate information about TB.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shraddha Rai M, assistant professor, department of genetics, who expressed gratitude to the chief guest, speaker, organizers, faculty members, and participants for their cooperation and active involvement. The programme was informative and helped strengthen awareness regarding the role of early detection, proper treatment, and community participation in achieving a healthier and TB-free society.
