Mangaluru, Aug 29: The Department of BBA, Institute of Management and Commerce (IMC), Srinivas University City Campus, Pandeshwar, in association with the Cultural Forum, organized a Pookalam competition for faculty members on the occasion of Onam on August 27 at the Auditorium.

The competition was conducted on a department-wise basis, with enthusiastic participation from various departments. The event provided a platform for faculty members to showcase their creativity, teamwork, artistic skills, and appreciation for the rich cultural traditions of Kerala.

A total of seven teams participated in the competition and created vibrant and attractive Pookalams using fresh flowers and natural materials. The designs beautifully reflected the traditional spirit of Onam while also displaying originality and creativity.

The competition was judged by Prof Swathi Kumari H, head of the department, MCA, Institute of Computer Science and Information Science, Srinivas University, and Dr P Sridhara Acharya, professor, Institute of Computer Science and Information Science, Srinivas University, Mangaluru. The judging criteria included creativity and originality, design and colour combination, neatness and presentation, traditional relevance, and overall visual appeal, with each criterion carrying 20 marks, making a total of 100 marks.

The event created a festive and vibrant atmosphere on the campus and encouraged collaboration and interaction among faculty members. The judges appreciated the efforts, creativity, teamwork, and dedication displayed by all the participating teams.

The Pookalam competition was successfully conducted with the active support and cooperation of the department of BBA and the Cultural Forum. The event concluded on a joyful note, spreading the colours, culture, and festive spirit of Onam across the campus.

The event was organized under the guidance of Dr Venkatesh S Amin, dean, IMC; Prof Shilpa K, head of the department, BBA; and Prof Shwetha N S, course coordinator, BBA department.
